There is a GP-led minor injuries and illness unit (MIIU) open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It is based at the High Wycombe hospital site, and provides care to those with minor injuries and illnesses.
The MIIU is for minor injuries and illness which you cannot treat yourself or which you think are unsuitable for a GP appointment. Following assessment, you may be advised to treat yourself, go to your pharmacist or see your GP if more appropriate.
If you are unsure, always call NHS 111.
The MIIU can treat:
- cuts and bruises
- sprains and strains
- bites and stings
- scalds and minor burns (but not involving the head or neck),
- infected wounds
- suspected fractures
- minor head injuries (no loss of consciousness) – adults only
- objects lodged in ear/eye/mouth/nose
- Do not bring seriously injured or ill children to the MIIU in Wycombe Hospital. Take them to the nearest A&E. Children with any head injury should be taken directly to A&E. Please note that there is not an A&E department at Wycombe Hospital.
